The Alabama Rural Electric Association provides a number of services for its member cooperatives. These services are outlined in detail in a yearly Work Plan developed by committees of the association’s Board of Directors. The Work Plan is then approved by the full board at its regular meeting in December. As a rule, services provided by AREA are those that cannot be provided economically or practically by individual cooperatives on their own.
